TYPOGRAPHY IS DESIGN

Typography is Design is a curated exhibition for the Museum of Design Atlanta that brings recognition to four pivotal figures in graphic design: Neville Brody, David Carson, Ed Fella, and Tibor Kalman.

Their postmodern approaches to design — instinctive and deliberately unpolished — broke away from the rigid structures of traditional modernism, ushering in a new era.

Through their work, these designers emphasizing spontaneity, and emotional immediacy.

Their experimental visual language shocked the design world and fundamentally reshaped the role of typography in communication, art, and culture.

"Typography is Design" celebrates the boldness, rebellion, and innovation that redefined what design could be — not just a tool for clarity, but a medium for disruption, provocation, and transformation.

PRINT

The print materials serve as both a visual introduction and a conceptual extension of the exhibition, confronting viewers with the same spirit of rebellion that defines the work on display.

SWAG

The merchandise collection reflects the exhibition’s postmodern ethos through understated yet impactful pieces.

WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA

The digital campaign for Typography is Design extends the exhibition’s energy into the online space.

Social media assets, web banners, and mobile content leverage the same experimental typography and visual interruptions seen throughout the branding.

EXHIBITION DESIGN

The exhibition design creates an immersive, visceral experience that mirrors the spirit of postmodern typography.

From fragmented wall graphics to disruptive signage and wayfinding, the physical environment embraces intentional disorder and energy.

Visitors move through a space that refuses neutrality — instead, the exhibition invites reflection, reaction, and conversation, just as the featured designers once disrupted the boundaries of design itself.
